World Cup Dream Over

Australia's brave run in the World Cup Finals came to an abrupt end early this morning with a penalty awarded seven bloody seconds from the end of the match. Devastated at the loss, I was impressed at the way we played this tournament.

Every game we played we had more ball posession than our apponents. Lacking from the Socceroos game was the quality of our shots on goal compared to our opposition. Sure if a couple of descisions had gone our way it might be us facing Ukraine in the Q/F, but over all I think Italy deserved its win. If you can keep a team from scoring while a player down for the majority of a half, then you deserve the win.

Where to now for Australian Soccer?

The new Australian Footbal Federation as apposed to the old Australian Soccer Association has done wonders in the last year, they gave us a revamped local competition called the A-League, hired Guus and a place in the World Cup Final, But just as important a move from Oceanea Football Confederation to the Asian Football Confederation.

This move is great as we no longer need to beat the 5th placed South American team to reach the World Cup. Asia has huge potential to turn its competition into a world force, so all is looking good for the Socceroos.

Gutted, tormented, ripped off and robbed of our chance to proceed further.

WHO THINKS THAT THE PREFERENCE OR "ADVANTAGE" IN A REF'S DECISION WAS GIVEN TO THE BIG NAME SIDES THIS WORLD CUP?

I DO!!

without a doubt - such a fickle sport where one decision can win or lose a game surely makes the argument in favour of implementing the video ref undeniable.....

C'mon boys... it was Australias ineptitude in and around the box that really cost us the game. If you remember last world cup, italy was the recipient of some seriously dodgy decisions, 3 or 4 of them infact. They deserved to win. But it was a dive. Italians are the masters of it. Had Ghana taken a few dives in their match with Brazil the score could have been very different. But to their credit, they stayed up. However I am in favour of the video ref to some extent, mainly in regards to spot penalties and serious fouls.
