Forget the World Cup, forget Wimbledon. If you are a Queenslander, it's Christmas and New Years all rolled into one on Wednesday night, as the Mighty Maroons take on the overated Cockroaches in a decider in Mexican heartland.

The Herston Hoods will be viewing the match from the comfort of their own home followed by a Victory Party. All Mutant Canetoads and Cockroaches are most welcome.

Recently I had a problem with the site as it went down for a while. In trying to get it running again I deleted a post about Origin posted by Isa.

World Cup Dream Over

Australia's brave run in the World Cup Finals came to an abrupt end early this morning with a penalty awarded seven bloody seconds from the end of the match. Devastated at the loss, I was impressed at the way we played this tournament.

Every game we played we had more ball posession than our apponents. Lacking from the Socceroos game was the quality of our shots on goal compared to our opposition. Sure if a couple of descisions had gone our way it might be us facing Ukraine in the Q/F, but over all I think Italy deserved its win. If you can keep a team from scoring while a player down for the majority of a half, then you deserve the win.

Where to now for Australian Soccer?

The new Australian Footbal Federation as apposed to the old Australian Soccer Association has done wonders in the last year, they gave us a revamped local competition called the A-League, hired Guus and a place in the World Cup Final, But just as important a move from Oceanea Football Confederation to the Asian Football Confederation.

This move is great as we no longer need to beat the 5th placed South American team to reach the World Cup. Asia has huge potential to turn its competition into a world force, so all is looking good for the Socceroos.

Back again. What a night. Mutants gathered at Jamesy's place last night to celebrate Jamesy, Kim, and Gui's birthday. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, with the night concluding in a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament.

I tell you what my heart was in my mouth this morning when I watched the Roos!

Sal had to leave the room in the end for fear of being hit by one of my arms that were continually madly waving around. The profanities that were coming out of mouth probably were also a little over the top in reflection (most of it either in the direction of the Ref, Croat's or the Aussie goalkeeper).

None the less we made it and I am totally beat from a very emotional match. Who wants to work on a day like today????

Whilst I am here, I think this is the best sporting event in the World! And why do we call our team the SoccerRoos? Now that we are part of this World Game we need to change that name. It's not soccer. IT'S FOOTBALL!!

WHAT AM i TO DO?

Computers can be so frustrating cant they? I just poured my heart out in a now non existent blog and just as I was about to post it I decided to spell check it and lost the whole blog. How can I ever expect to recapture these thoughts and emotions? Fucken technology (sorry folks - swearing makes me feel a lot better). Dont expect me to spell check this one so you will just have to put up with the grammatical and spelling errors.

To begin.......

I have been thinking a lot of late. I would guess you have too if you feel the same way?? I really feel like the backbone of my friendship base in Brisbane has been ripped away of recent. First my ol' partner in crime and Yeronga orignator, Da Bear and his girlfriend - no let me get this right WIFE, Mezzy pack their bags and head to terrorize the suburbs of London. Shortly after I am informed that my neighbours and very close friends Coltrain & Breeza are shorty to head over and join the newly wed Londoners!! If you dont belive me check out their house - they are already living out of bags not too mention Tigs (their cat) no longer resides there.

Next, just when I am getting used to the idea of these four close friends departing I find out that Rusty (aka Sharon) and Marcus are soon to pack up and move to Mumbai to start life there for indeterminant amount of time.

WOW - that is a lot of folk close to my heart that are no longer physically apparent on a regular basis. PLEASE - Don't get me wrong as there are still very special friends close to my heart left in Brissie but with the current occurences I cant help the fact that it leaves me emotionally void at present (which is typically a male trait)!!! And the feeling of nothingness is one of the worst in the world.

I don't know if there is a point to this posting - Does there have to reason behind every emotion?

It is important that the above mentioned people know I will miss them greatly! I hope they know how much they mean to me because often we dont tell each other the value of each individual friendship. Bear, this very much applies to you as my Yeronga days and the time spent with you remains strong in my heart.

I guess I could go on and on but I wont. My only wish is that one day these people will be back here and we once again will have the same base of friends I now realise I was so lucky to have. The one thing to come of this is the realisation that at times I did take my friends and the inherent friendships for granted and now that we are physically challeneged I wish I had done more to atleast let them know of this.

None the less it is my commitment to make sure for those of you that are still left, that I stop this tendency of "taking for granted" and communicate more.

Oh dear...... have I expressed myself effectively??? It was better on the first posting but emotions tend to be circles of therotical and mental activity.

Qld Dynasty On Cards

Just got home from what I suspect was a classic Origin encounter. Never can tell when you go to a match. Jamesy, Coltrain and Borgus supplied plenty of spirits via hip flasks, bacardi I guess, but hard to tell.

In between spilling drinks on people in front and taunting anyone in blue, it looked like Tate, Lockyer, Thaiday and Price had great games.

Losing by one point in game one is the closest we have ever come to winning at Telstra Stadium so I could not really understand the criticism aimed at the cane toads. The Weekly fix predicted a 28-0 scoreline after game 1 but was far from dissapointed when those dirty cockroaches crawled their way over the white line.

game 3 should prove to be a lot tighter encounter so tip is Qld 14 NSW 12

Do Or Die For Mighty Maroons

One more sleep before the cane toads line up against the cockroaches at the home of Origin. This is do or die for the Maroons no team has lost four series in a row and those southerners are talking up the dynasty again. (QLD won the first 5 years, 80-84 but is not counted as series wins as the first two years were one off games).

This game is sure to go down in Qld origin folklore.

Socceroos Open Account

Australia started the World Cup with a sensational result last night against Japan.
Trailing 1-0 after a controversial goal in the 26th minute, the Socceroos World Cup campaign looked all but over with six minutes left in ordinary play when on of Guus's substitutes, Tim Cahill scored Australias first ever World Cup goal to draw even.

Not satisfied with his new place in Australian sporting history Cahill scored the goal of the tournament five minutes after his first goal.

Guaranteeing the three points with a third goal within 8 minutes was the icing on the top to what was a dominant display to the new boys on the block.

Socceroos' next game is 19th june 1.00am against Brazil

Fifa World Cup Fantasy Football

Football Fever is hotting up with the World Cup less than ten days away so I have just signed up to the Fifa World Cup Fantasy Football Competition.

This tipping comp allows you to play manager of your own football team made up of a squad of 23 players selected by yourself ( no more than three from each competing nation) against other peoples teams. Points are awarded for all stats racked up by your chosen players. Limited transfers are also available.

Once you have named your team that team competes against everyone who is in the competition. You are also given the choice of joining groups or creating a group for friends to join.

I have joined the Fans of Australia Group and have created my own group

Bush & Blair Admit Itaq Mistakes - SORT OF

President bush recently admitted he made mistakes in Iraq. Interestingly the two admitted mistakes are as follows:

1. Not using sophisticated enough language refering to his "Dead or Alive" comment concerning the capture of Osama bin Ladin. His "Bring it on" comment aimed at Iraqi forces was the other example the President admitted was a mistake.

2. Abu Ghraib.


Bush's first admiited mistake of antagonistic schoolboy bullying language seems to me, not to be a mistake in the War in Iraq but a PR mistake in the image of the Presidency and thus those aligned with the United States of America.

His second mistake, Abu Ghraib. Was the mistake the torture that was inflicted on the prisoners or was the mistake that the world got to see the evidence.


How about admitting the mistake of entering a war against the wishes of the United Nations on dumb intelligence refering to weapons of mass destruction that resulted in an unjust war responsible for

Origin 1 - NSW 17 QLD 16

Origin 1 has come and gone and what a game. NSW were quite superb, I thought they played brilliantly. Willie Mason looked in a league of his own looking virtually unstoppable at a time of the game which is meant to be at its tightest.

QLD outplayed NSW in most areas of the game except in metres gaines(1527-1404) and offloads (16-2) and missed tackles (24-44). This can be put down to the NSW forwards who pretty much ran rampant as well as defending with a sting that I have only ever seen from the mighty maroons.

So where do we go from here? NSW were fantastic and I thought QLD lacked cohesion around the halfback, 5/8 position and no forward looked as though they were capable of taking the game by the scruff.

Sounds drastic but have no fear I beleive the rookies will play with more grunt now that they have a game under their belt. Thurston and Lockyer are two brilliant players, that will play better together in Origin Two. Sam Thaiday is our answer to counter attack bullocking runs by Mason so I would give Sam more game time.

Congratulation NSW you played above yourselves and QLD you have alot of improving left in you. With NSW playing above themselves and having the home ground advantage and smashing QLD by a whole point, I feel NSW was lucky to win so am confident QLD will take this 2006 series.

One last point. People are reporting that QLD is lacking in passion and don't have the same hatred as past origin generations. I tend to agree. The best way to deal with this scenario is, at kick off in the Melbourne Decider every QLDer should run up to their opposite number and punch the living daylight out of them. That would put the passion back into origin.

State of Origin is Back

Teams have been announced for this years State of Origin which means the first game being played in Sydney is just around the corner. (May 24 - Wed) Qld is trying to avoid being the first team to have been beaten in four consecutive series so all passionate Queenslanders are being called to arms to Jamesy's Joint to help give it to those conniving cockroaches. Drinks Start May 24 Wednesday as soon as we wake up. for Jamesy's address either call Jamesy or myself.

Kick off at 8.00pm so all Queenslanders required to attend in time for War Paint Ritual. Any Queenslanders wearing blue enter at own risk. Dirty Cockroach Supporters most welcome.

Football World Cup is just around the corner. I have often heard that footballers are the most gifted athletes on the planet and after seeing this Nike Commercial you would have to agree. On second thoughts I reckon it is fake. What do you think ??

I Am Not Alone

Shagga is onto a good thing with Michael Franti's directional debut"I Know I Am Not Alone". Here is an excerpt from a recent email from Shagga.

Michael Franti has just been touring round Oz presenting this movie that he made about Iraq and the Israel/palestine situation... he travels to the aforementioned countries with a few friends and his guitar (and only one shirt by the looks of it) and talks to a whole range of people, sings some tunes, freaks a few of them out and basically just connects with the habibis of the world.... it's kind of a view of the situation from a musicians perspective rather than the usual journalistic/poltician's take on things.....it's not about the politics, its about the people... and as we all know only too well --> all the freaky people make the beauty of the world.... there's nothing shocking or new just a worthwhile thing he has done and you should see it if you want to be inspired by that.....

Splendor tickets on sale May15

Splendor is almost upon us. Tickets go on sale May 15th for the only winter festival in this part of the world on July 24 and 25th. No announcements yet of the line up. We will have to wait till the end of the month for any announcements. Any guesses for a possible line up?????? Wolf Mother?? Gorillaz?? Cat Empire?? It's about time the Chemical Brothers graced our shores.

What do you think.

All I can tell you is it will be the largest Splendor ever with 17,500 tickets going on sale. the festival will take over extra area within the Belongil Fields site.

News From The Iron Curtain

The following is an email sent to me from The Moscow Mutant


Like any good expat I signed up with the Australian Embassy to receive information as it comes to hand. More often than not it is meaningless crap that is of no interest to anyone. Today however, I am surprised to see that the first even Oz film festival will take place in Moscow in March! I thought how excellent, the Russkies will be able to view some quality Australian cinema. The quote from the embassy even reads “We are looking forward to acquainting the Russian audiences with some Australian culture”.

After living in Moscow now for nearly 8 months, I should have known better! Nothing in Russia is as it seems fellow fixers!!!

Scanning the list of selected movies there was nothing I would suggest is classic Australian cinema. There was no Gallipoli, Shine, Rabbit Proof Fence, Breaker Morant etc etc… NO, our Russian/Australian culture vulture is either completely twisted or possesses not one ounce of a clue!!! The selections made to show the Russian Cinema Public are:

Romper Stomper and the Wog Boy!

Now I am not necessary casting dispersions on the quality of either of these movies, I do however, have serious reservations on the message we are attempting to deliver to our post-communist brothers and sisters. One movie portrays us as Neo Nazis that hate immigrants and like nothing more than to smash the living hell out of them at any chance we can get; the other suggests we are a bunch of idiots that hate immigrants and like nothing more than to make fun of them at any chance we get.

This is not a good thing in itself, but to add to the nonsense why would we show these films to a country that already has a large dislike for foreigners, a high proportion of racists and a large segment of skinheads. Is this Johny’s little way of finding a common ground for building foreign relations?

Aaagh the serenity!!!

Just to provide further credibility to my ranting, the following is an excerpt from a genuine article in the Press

Policeman's lot is a thuggish one in Russia, says poll

Two out of three Russian policemen think that torturing suspects is acceptable, while over a quarter admit to extorting bribes. Even so, most of Russia's police cannot understand why they are unpopular, a new opinion poll has found.

The poll was conducted in only 41 cities [reasonable sample size I suggest]

Studies suggest, however, that Russia's traffic police collectively take home an additional £680 million a year in bribes.

The Daily Telegraph sought the opinion of three policemen in central Moscow on the poll. All three refused to comment, though one demanded a bribe and another threatened violence.

"If you don't go away I will beat you," he said.

Final International Act Added To Good Vibrations

The final international lineup for the Good Vibrations Festival has been announced, with LA live funk band Breakestra added to the event’s already impressive roster of artists. Headed by Miles Tackett, the group’s founder and producer, the Breakestra lineup features a rotating cast of musicians, including MixMaster Wolf, James “The Penguin” King and Munyongo Jackson. Renowned for their undeniably funky live performances, Tackett himself plays across drums, keys, guitar, cello as well as singing! Their latest album, ‘Hit The Floor’, was one of the best of 2005, and the group will no doubt prove to be the perfect addition to the likes of James Brown.

Music, Music, Music.........

Sorry there has not been much work on the fix as of late, have been quite busy this month. Looking for a new place to live and a new job can be quite time consuming, so thanx for your patience.

Does everyone use Limewire? If not I would highly recommend this free program as it is a great way of acquiring music or any other file for that matter. Can be difficult knowing where to find the right track so I have listed sites that can make the search process a little easier.

Fear Shenanigans

Fear is over for another year but I suspect the memories are still lingering around all you recovering mutants. Everyone seems to have their own story to tell and photos to back them up so if you would like to send me any stories and photos I will post them to the fix.

Just like to congratulate Houndog, Jamesy, Bear, Coltrain and Lenzy for the huge effort they put in for bringing us the coolest festival on the Aussie calander.

It must be mentioned that fear would not be what it is without all you mutants so thanx to everyone who made the yearly pilgrimage especially all our inernational and interstate guests - Well Done!

Ashes Series Announced

It only seems like yesterday but next year's Ashes itinerary has been announced. Ticket information will be released on January 10. These will be the toughest sporting tickets to acquire of the year. No doubt there will be plenty of those Pommie Bastards snapping up as many tickets as soon as they go on sale so the weekly fix will keep you updated to give you the best chance of going to the sporting event of the year.

King Kong Rocks

Just saw the opening night of King Kong and boy does it rock. The special effects are amazing, they seem so real. Unbeleivable that Peter Jackson has come up with a film like this so quickly after the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. These last four films must put him in the same bracket as Steven Spielberg.

Fear T-Shirts Update

Thanks for everone's interest in the Fear t-shirts. Upon futher research the t-shirt sizes are smaller than what we normally expect. 70kg-large; 80kg-XL. So we have adjusted some sizes.

Everyone who has replied to the site have guaranteed the number of shirts they have requested. I have added Jamesy, Bear, Lenzy, Mary and myself to the list. Matt ordered himself one + 2, but spoke to him last night and he has to cxl the +2, which brings us to a total of 26 shirts.

There are four spare shirts; 2x LG and 2x XXL.

Shirts will cost $20 each.

For the remaining four it is first in best dressed. Reply to guarantee a shirt.

Shame, Shame, Shame.

More and more often I see people telling outright lie's to either protect their interests from unjust acts from a higher order or even to save their lives and physical integrity from what we may deem harsh punishment from a particular societies drastic laws.

Politicians are the masters of lying, just before a federal election we were all told that illegal immigrants were throwing their children overboard and that there is no way we would tolerate such people in our society. After the election was over it was revealed that these kids weren't being thrown overboard but jumping from a sinking boat. No one admited responsibility for these lies and eventually we forgot all about it.

When Michelle Leslie was first arrested with a couple of lollies in her bag she was quoted as saying she was addicted to E and couldn't go out partying without them. After meeting with lawyers her story changed to her being addicted to anti depressants and she thought they were such drugs. (As well as being a muslim).

This is a quote Schappelle Corby told in a Bali court. "I have never been involved with drugs, I don't like drugs. It's not my drugs. I wouldn't even know where to get the drugs from. I am not a person involved in drugs and I am not a person who might become involved in drug-smuggling operations."

Recent reporting has discovered that a South Australian man who was caught with 4.1kg of hydroponic marijuana and $60 000 cash had photos of himself and Schapelle in his house.

I'm not saying I agree with the punishments that Michelle and Schapelle were faced with but what pisses me off is our society thinks it is fine to lie to save yourself from other countries laws because they are not the same as ours.

We are in the process of bringing in rules where anyone who wants to become an Aussie has to pass exams on our way of living. If you want to live in or visit our county
you have to abide by our rules. Fine you may say, but shouldn't it work both ways. Shouldn't we accept other societies laws and way's of life.

I am totally against the barbaric punishment of being put to death like an animal for any crime, let alone for smuggling drugs and I bet Van Nguyen was against it as well, yet he never lied and accepted the crime with the dignity that I have never witnessed in any politician.

Johnny, Michelle and Schapelle could all take a leaf out of Van Nguyen's book. As Derryn Hinch would say shame, shame, shame!

CONCERT REVIEW - King of Funk

I was a 'Cosmic Girl' listening to an exceptionally cool(despite the heat) Pommie Funk wizard.

A good night was had by all -great lights and a fantastic band made for a pro' set up under a starry sky on one of the hottest nights of the year.

Too bad it was an'under 18's' gig , must avoid those in future, no one was impressed with the bar set up....just crazy to be stuck in or out of the drinks area just for the sake of a few scrawny kids and a few warm VB's.

Jay Kay was donned in full nylon tracksuit and appropriate headwear(sparkly Sungod)- Who knows how he didn't die of heatstroke under those lights, he was sweating more than Elvis in a white onepiece. However, his show was great and we all did the funky moves to -

25 Days To Fear

Fear is almost upon us, bigger and better. Help us celebrate the passing of his lordship Hunter S. Thompson, Rest in Peace Dad. Fear 06 RIP will be accompanied with a 5500 watt stereo system. Rumours of Jamesy's Love Boat making an appearance are rife so please bring your video cameras/cameras.

If you haven't been lucky enough to attend this event before, this is a camping extravaganza. We supply the crystal clear lake, a walk-in cold room, a BBQ, a massive stage, special fire show, couches, phat tunes, disco lights, and plenty of sleepless nights. You need to supply a tent [or tarp or at least somewhere to rest your head], grog, party flavours, food, water, hat, sun-cream, swimmers (or birthday suit),toothbrush. Pat's Birthday Drinks

Mutant fixers celebrated Pat's birthaday Saturday night at the Bowery Bar and seemed to have a blast by all accounts Unfortunately I couldn't make it but was fortunate enough to share a couple of drinks around 6.30 this morning during the aftermath, though was quite responsible and didn't get into Jamesy's homemade tequila. The Hound made a guest appearance which was great as I don't get to see him that often. A new friend was introduced to the group DMT and he made quite an impression with the mutants. Hound this is that link of historical events from 5000BC to 1986 I was telling you about, I'm sure you will find it interesting.

Skype Rocks

Just had my first conversation online with Ash in Canada, was just surfing the net when my mac started ringing, as my mac has a built in microphone I just sat there speaking to Ash with no cords attached. With Skype we can have a conference call with 5 people from 5 different countries, so fixers click on this title and get free calls forevever.

Breakbeat legend Freq Nasty has joined the Good Vibrations Festival along with deep house legend Andy Callwell. Has anyone bought tickets for this festival yet? I bought mine a few days ago and was told they are selling faster than any previous Good Vibration Festivals.

James Brown Heads Good Vibrations Festival

How exciting my favourite Brissy festival will be headlined by my favourite musical act James Brown. I was lucky to see this legend in 98 with Jamesy and Josie in England, and for those of you who think this guy is toooo old, you will be in for a rude shock. He will be accompanied by a 20 peice band and are sure to rock your socks off.

Bear Mungus Shortlisted for Photography Award

Browsing through the paper this morning I couldn't help notice an article on page 23 of today's Courier Mail depidicting the ever talented Bear Skin Rug. Everyone knows he has been shortlisted for the Premier's Multicultural Photographic Awards, so if you haven't voted for the Mungus go to photo awards or multicultural festival Voting closes this Friday and the winner will be announced November 3.
